One of my favorite gospel recordings, this is the uplifting “Mary, Don’t You Weep”, from the great Shirley Caesar and Claude Jeter. Play, tap your feet, clap your hands, get your spiritual on, and revel in the jubilation, hope, and optimism of this awesome, momentous day

Congratulations to President Obama and the people of the US of A.
As a foreigner who wants good things to happen in any and all parts of the world, I wish Americans will work more in harmony with their president. How successful Obama can be as American president will depend on how well his fellow-Americans can rein in their demands for their expectations to be satisfied.

Keep the hopes alive.

Thanks for the pictures and the reminder of how far we’ve come. I hope President Obama does well, and it’s easy to get caught up in his inspiring vision. I just hope he “walks the talk” – only time will tell if he can succeed when it counts. I, for one, hope he will…

serendipity hopeful,
I couldn’t agree more. With the enthusiasm for Obama’s presidency so high, people have to remember that he’s human and has enormous challenges to deal with. His predecessor saddled him with a lot of mistakes to repair. We have to support him in every way we can, since we’re all in this together.
Thank you for your good wishes! And thanks for the nice link.

ColdSilverMoon,
Glad you appreciated my extremely concise and rather “abridged” chronicle of America’s civil rights journey. Talk about a nutshell! But I think it got the point across.
We have no reason to believe that Obama won’t “walk the talk”. He’s just sworn-in, and has a lot on his plate. I think being caught up in his inspiring vision is a good thing, especially since we’ve had little to inspire us for the past 8 years. 8 LONG years. It’s nice to have a leader who energizes the people. He needs us as much as we need him. Let’s wish him well.
Thanks for commenting!
